Gentle and decongesting

Manual lymphatic drainage in Zurich

No pressure, no kneading. Rhythm only.

Slow, rhythmic strokes along a client’s leg during a manual lymphatic drainage session.

Lymphatic drainage is the gentlest treatment I offer. No pressure, no depth — only slow, rhythmic, circling movements that follow the run of the lymph vessels.

One clarification, because the name covers two different things: what I offer is lymphatic work within an ayurvedic framework — not the physician-prescribed manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) used in physiotherapy to treat a lymphoedema. The strokes are related; the purpose is not. Wellbeing, rather than therapy on prescription.

It is made for people who stand or sit for long stretches, whose legs feel heavy by the evening, or who know that sensation of swelling that builds through the day. Most describe the result as “lighter” rather than “loosened”.

Gentle lymphatic massage, within an ayurvedic framework

Manual lymphatic drainage — particularly suited to

  • heavy legs at the end of the day
  • a feeling of swelling and fluid retention
  • long periods of standing or sitting at work
  • lack of movement
  • alongside aesthetic treatments
  • after surgery — only with explicit medical clearance

What lymphatic drainage supports

  • supports the natural flow of lymph
  • encourages a pleasant feeling of lighter legs
  • may reduce a sensation of swelling
  • encourages deep relaxation through its even rhythm
  • contributes to general wellbeing

How a lymphatic drainage session runs

  1. A short check

I ask about existing conditions, operations and medication. With this treatment that matters more than with any other.

  2. Centre before periphery

We always begin at the trunk, not at the leg. Only once the drainage route is open do we work outwards.

  3. Rhythmic strokes

Circling, even, very light. The rhythm matters far more than the pressure.

  4. Resting

Stay lying down afterwards, and drink plenty of water for the rest of the day.

Common questions

Lymphatic drainage — Common questions

Do I need a doctor’s referral for lymphatic drainage?

No. Lymphatic drainage in my practice serves wellbeing and relaxation; it is not a medically prescribed therapy. You book it directly, no referral needed. It is different after an operation or with diagnosed lymphoedema: there I treat only with explicit clearance from your doctor.

What does lymphatic drainage feel like?

Very gentle and very even. A lot of people fall asleep. If you are looking for firm pressure this is not the right treatment — Abhyanga or Pinda Sweda would suit you better.

How often is lymphatic drainage worthwhile?

For relief after a demanding stretch, a single session is often enough. Where a feeling of swelling persists, several appointments close together tend to be more useful than isolated ones far apart.

Can I come after an operation?

Only with explicit clearance from your doctor. Please bring that clearance to the appointment. Without it I cannot treat you in that situation.
