Warm herbal poultices
Pinda Sweda in Zurich
Warm herbal poultices. For people who get cold easily.

In Pinda Sweda I work with warm poultices of herbs or rice, dabbed, rolled and drawn across the skin. The moist heat travels slowly into the muscle — noticeably deeper than massage alone reaches.
This treatment is built for people who get cold easily, who wake up stiff, or whose tension can no longer simply be pressed away. It is warming, quiet and surprisingly nourishing.

How a Pinda Sweda session runs
Preparation
The poultices are freshly filled and warmed. While that happens, we talk briefly about where today should focus.
Oil first
The skin is prepared with warm oil. Without that layer the heat would be too direct.
Working with the poultices
Dabbing, rolling, gliding — the temperature is checked and adjusted continuously. You tell me what feels good.
Resting
You stay wrapped and lying down, so the warmth can keep working in the tissue.
Common questions
Pinda Sweda — Common questions
How hot are the herbal poultices?
Comfortably warm, about like a hot compress — never hot enough to be unpleasant. I test each poultice on my own forearm before it touches your skin, and I check with you several times during the treatment.
What is inside the poultices?
Depending on the aim, either an ayurvedic herb blend or rice cooked in milk and herbs, bound into cotton cloths. If you have allergies, we go through the blend beforehand.
What is the difference between Pinda Sweda and a normal massage?
In a classic massage everything happens through the hands. Here warm poultices are added — herbs or cooked rice, bound into cotton cloths. The moist heat travels into the tissue more slowly than hand pressure does. Many people describe it as intense, even though nothing is pressed hard. 60 minutes CHF 160, 90 minutes CHF 210, at the practice in Zurich Hottingen.
Is this the same as a hot stone massage?
No. Hot stone uses dry heat from stones. Pinda Sweda uses moist, herb-carrying heat, which is softer and travels further — and the poultices move constantly rather than resting in place.
