I treat not only at my own practice in Hottingen, but also at the Stadtbad — the hammam and spa in the Volkshaus.
The Stadtbad sits in the vaults beneath the Volkshaus on Stauffacherstrasse, in Kreis 4. People have been bathing there since 1910. Today it is a hammam with a sauna, a relaxation room and its own treatment menu — and one of the few places in this city where you genuinely slow down.
For ayurvedic work that is close to ideal. Warmth and a thorough cleansing before an oil treatment are not an extra in Ayurveda; they are the classic order of things. In a hammam that happens anyway — in an oriental rather than an Indian form.
The Stadtbad is not my practice. It is an independent business with its own team, its own prices and its own booking. I am one of the therapists who works there.
Stadtbad hammam
Not because both sound exotic, but because the sequence is right.
At my practice the first twenty minutes go into bringing warmth into the muscle. After a hammam it is long since there.
After the kese scrub the skin takes oil differently. That is the state traditional Abhyanga was designed for.
Most people arrive at a treatment still wired. After two hours of heat, the massage starts from a completely different place.
The part that is always cut short in an ordinary appointment has its own room here. You do not have to walk straight back into the city.
Both are ayurvedic work, but they do not do the same job. Here is the honest distinction — including where you book which.

No. Treatments at the Stadtbad can be booked without the hammam ritual — the only exception is the hammam massages themselves. If you want both, entry is paid separately (currently CHF 54.–) and is not included in the treatment price. The Stadtbad say they always keep a place in the hammam free for treatment guests.
At the Stadtbad, the Stadtbad’s prices apply, and they differ from mine. Their current prices and durations are on their own site.
Through the Stadtbad rather than through me — they schedule for the whole house. If you specifically want a treatment with me, say so when you book, or drop me a line beforehand.
For treatments at my own practice you get an invoice with everything your supplementary insurer needs. At the Stadtbad the billing runs through the Stadtbad — please ask them directly before you book.
At the Stadtbad you get one very good treatment in an unusual setting. At my practice it is about a path: a first consultation, an assessment, treatments across several weeks, nutrition and daily rhythm. Plenty of people use both — the Stadtbad when they want an evening to themselves, the practice when something needs to change more fundamentally.
