Riccardo Di Pasquale, ayurveda therapist in Zurich

I did not come to Ayurveda through theory. I came to it through an injury.

What I lost

Football was my great passion for years. I played competitively; my life ran on training, matches and the goal of getting better.

An injury ended it. In that moment I did not only lose my sport — I lost a piece of who I was. Who am I, if I am not that any more?

What was missing

Becoming a physiotherapist had been on my mind since school, and after the injury it turned into a plan. I wanted to be the therapist I would have wanted during my own rehabilitation.

What that plan would have been missing is only clear to me now. Behind every injury, every pain and every complaint there is also fear, uncertainty, pressure and exhaustion. That part needs different tools from the body.

What I found

Just before I enrolled at university, a good friend told me to look at Ayurveda first — he knew my spiritual side and thought it suited me better. I signed up for a course in ayurvedic massage. I never did enrol: I did not become a physiotherapist, I became an ayurveda therapist.

Ayurveda does not only address symptoms. It looks at the whole person — body, mind and way of living. Suddenly I also understood my own story: when I was injured, I did not only need a strong body. I needed someone to walk with me through that period mentally.

That is exactly why I work the way I do today.

What drives me

I want to help people find their natural balance again — in a world that keeps getting faster.

I do not believe health has to be complicated. My aim is to make Ayurveda understandable, practical and liveable. No rigid rules, no extremes, no solutions that only work in the short term.

Because real wellbeing does not come from perfection. It comes from small changes that are actually lived, every day.

Most people do not come to me because of their back. They come because they have not been able to switch off properly for months. That is why the first consultation is 90 minutes and not 30.

Why people work with me

  • I ask about the rest

What your day looks like, when it ends, how long it has been this way. The stiff neck is rarely the whole story.

  • I send you home with little

You leave with a few concrete recommendations, not a programme. Anything you have stopped doing after ten days was the wrong recommendation.

  • I also say no

Not everyone is in the right place with me. If that is my impression, I tell you at the first consultation, not after the fifth treatment.

  • I have been the patient

After my injury I went through rehabilitation myself. I know what it is like when the body works again and the rest does not.

Languages

I treat in German, English and Italian. If you express yourself more easily in one of them, just say so when you book — for the first consultation especially, it makes a real difference.

Network and recognition

I work with professionals who share the same understanding: see the person first, the method second. And I have my work checked from the outside.

  • Dr Umesh Tejasvi

    Ayurvedic doctor, India

Dr Umesh Tejasvi is an ayurvedic doctor in India — he is a doctor, I am not. We are in professional contact almost daily, and it keeps my work honest: he is where I turn when my own knowledge runs out. He is happy to be named here.

  • Hammam & Spa Stadtbad Zurich

    Second treatment location

At the Stadtbad — the hammam in the vaults of the Volkshaus — I work as one of their therapists. Oriental bathing culture and Ayurveda complement each other naturally: warmth, water and time are the real tools in both traditions. Booking and prices there run through the Stadtbad.

  • EMR — ErfahrungsMedizinisches Register

    Quality register

The register checks training, reviews continuing education every year, and registers only therapists who hold valid professional liability cover and accept the EMR code of conduct. Each method is registered separately, not the person as a whole. For you that means two things: a verifiable basis for quality — and the possibility that your supplementary insurance contributes part of the cost. It creates no entitlement to reimbursement: nothing goes through compulsory basic insurance (KVG/LAMal), and whether and how much you get back is decided solely by your insurer — please check before your first appointment.
